Well, Alain, its a whole community server, like blaxxun. Remember? How much MO(?) MB?
was that?

I need a tutorial , sorry |
Sure, follow the link and read:
https://wonderland.dev.java.net/binary-builds.html
| Quote: | Prerequisites | Installing | Shutting Down | Configuring | Uninstalling | What's Next? | Platform Exceptions |
Prerequisites
This page describes how to install a Wonderland server from a binary "jar" file. This is an activity we recommend for system administrators, software developers, or advanced users. After installing a binary build, you will end up with an instance of a Wonderland server, including a web server component and several default Wonderland worlds. You will be able to provide users with a link to a web page which has a button to launch a Wonderland client.
Important Note: Even if you have successfully run a Wonderland client on your system, you may still need to upgrade Java to be able to run the Wonderland server. See the "Java SE 6 JDK" bullet below.
Before you download and install the binary release of Project Wonderland, make sure you have met the following requirements:
* Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP/Vista, Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), OpenSolaris, Mac OS X
If Wonderland does not seem to run on your system, see the note below on platform exceptions.
* Access to a command line
You will need to know how to use a terminal or command window to enter a few simple commands.
* Java SE 6 JDK
To set up a Wonderland server you need the Sun Java SE 6 JDK. If you already have Java installed verify that you have the JDK and not the JRE and that it's the Sun Java SE 6 version. Some Linux distributions include OpenJDK which is not compatible with Wonderland.
To verify that you have the Sun Java SE 6 JDK installed, follow these platform specific instructions:
Linux and OpenSolaris
Check to see if you have a /usr/jdk or /usr/jdk1.6.0_nn directory (where nn is a number such as 16). If you do, enter the following command to check the version you have installed:
/usr/jdk/bin/java -version
or:
/usr/jdk1.6.0_nn/bin/java -version
If you have the Sun Java SE 6 JDK installed, you should see 1.6.0 in the command output:
java version "1.6.0_16"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode)
Windows
Check to see if you have a C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_nn directory. If you're running a 64-bit version of Windows, also check C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_nn.
...
Start the Wonderland server on Mac OS or OpenSolaris by typing:
java -jar Wonderland.jar
On Windows, type the following, including the quotation marks, but replace the "_16" with the number of the update that you have installed:
"\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_16\bin\java" -jar Wonderland.jar

tsss, teachers can read, remember Alain!
(sure, its for developers, or advanced users... but Im sure, you might get it)

OK thanx , indeed I saw
that
wonderland.dev.java.net/binary-builds.html
yesterday ..
But usually , each time I read "open the windows command line" ..I go to my next step ....cooking or cleaning the plates ...
But Ok , I will make some effort .
But the best way will be to ask my great son ,
he "bought "
that OVH server ,
http://mixed3d.net/
and he is the only one in my family to know how to use it .
( We use it for the moment to have semaless3d chat running on )
So I will ask him , it will take some time ... but ...

|
|
Alain, I would be very interested to have a wonderland 0.5 server running.
(I dont have the money to pay a second server and guess cyworx is not capable of another high service).
On my local dyndns network its not possible: wonderland 0.5 needs a fixed IP/DNS to run.
Wonderland 0.4 works on dyndns, but it has not nearly that cool/much features the new 0.5 has, like drag & drop, web-admin-UI and lot more.
So if you or your great son needs help, post or PM me.
What you need for WL 0.5:
-Linux/Unix/freeBSD/macOSX server (I dont like windows too much in server cases)
-fixed IP/DNS-name for that server
-java6 able to run on server.
-user account, accessible via ssh on that server
-server should not be a slow one (>2ghz >512MB ram)
*PM* or mail for help then!

A interresting and (probably) powerful feature of wonderland (used the older wonderland 0.4 version here), is that you can start applications/programms inside wonderland and share them in world with others.
See cyworx-start page via firefox window (linux-client here) inside wonderland:
That way you can surf the net, with our friends, while in a 3D shared enviroment.
Very powerful idea! You even can write texts together:
This screen is taken from my windose-client, where I dont have an installed openOffice at all, well time to test more.
I'm still in urgent need of a dedicated test-server... |
